COMMUNITY SERVICEStudents at MEP are instilled the importance of helping others. Due to COVID 19, students were limited to community involvement. Students made Valentine Cards for the patients at the local nursing home. Also, food boxes were provided by Fitzgerald Methodist Church. LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOLLights On Afterschool is an annual event held throughout the United States. The purpose is to highlight nonprofit after school programs. SPELLING BEEStudents must be enrolled as a student at the MEP. There are 3
categories of competition: Grades K-2 and Grades 3-8. The spelling bee will be held on December 16, 2021 at the Monitor Enrichment Center multipurpose room. Students are given 2 months to study a list of words which are age appropriate. There are first, second, and third place winners for each grade level categories. STEAM ACTIVITIESMEP students participate 3 days weekly in STEAM. The lessons are for one hour and focuses on science, technology, engineering, art, and math. WATER DAYEach year, the Fitzgerald Fire Department helps the students at MEP celebrate a day of fun in the water. The fire department takes time out of their busy schedule to add a little water excitement for the students at Monitor Enrichment Program. This event usually is held in the month of May. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR DAYStudents work for several weeks preparing for MLK celebrations throughout the community. Students engage in poetry, public speaking, singing, and dancing. Students also showcase their talents through arts and writings. Students at MEP participate in the following MLK events:
